This was a day hike to Deep Creek Hot Springs via the Pacific Crest
Trail (PCT). The hike was an ODC event and
consisted of about 30+ people. The group met
and carpooled and started the hike near the dam.
Once over the dam there are a couple of short
switchbacks to the PCT. This portion of the
PCT then just rolls across the hills above the river
until it gets to the the deep creek hot springs.
The hot springs flow out the ground well over 100
degrees. there are several pools with
retaining walls that have been constructed.
Now this are is clothing optional and most people
hit the hot springs with no clothes, so you have to
be comfortable.
The group both waded into the pool as well as the
creek and afterwards feasted on a huge lunch.
The trail is a good 12 miles round trip, so after a
while people started to filter back on their own.
My buddy Mark and I were sweep going out, but
decided to pass on those duties going back.
