Rim-to-(almost) Rim-to-Rim
April 12-16, 2006
|
 |
Another excellent trip, this time with friends from the
hiking club. The five of us hiked primarily
the corridor trails. It was my friends first
time to the bottom of the canyon and the itinerary
change worked out well. This trip originally
was to be a trip out to Clear Creek. However
when we got to the bottom it was reported that the
Cheyava Falls probably wasn't running and that it
was hotter than Hell up on the Clear Creek Trail.
The rangers were saying to get most of the hike done
in the dark because of the heat. I basically
learned my lesson on the Clear Creek Trail the first
time I did it in May 2000. This time I ran
over to the Ranger Hut and was able to get the
itinerary changed. Instead of two nights at
Clear Creek I was able to snag two nights at
Cottonwood (I couldn't get this itinerary if I
tried). I knew the group wouldn't be
disappointed with Ribbon Falls and I was also able
to see something new as well (more of the North
Kaibab and Roaring Springs).
